That caveat exists because the previous version of this page called itself “a live snapshot of what I am focused on right now” and then sat unedited for 149 days. Printing the date is the cheapest fix available: it lets you discount the page yourself instead of relying on me to have kept my word.

What a /now/ page is

It’s Derek Sivers’ idea: one page, linked from the homepage, that says what you’re focused on at this point in your life: the answer you’d give a friend you hadn’t seen in a year. Not a résumé, not a feed. He wrote up the reasoning in Nownownow, and there’s a directory of a few thousand of them at nownownow.com.

What I’m doing

Rebuilding this site. On 5 August 2026 I deleted 739 automatically generated English articles from this domain, 2,922 files once the machine translations into Italian, Arabic and Simplified Chinese are counted. They went up on an hourly cron between 31 October 2025 and 27 April 2026, written by a model, none of them read by a human first. The rebuild is the opposite constraint: small, hand-written, and every factual claim carries a source URL that a build step re-checks. content/ holds 49 markdown files as I write this (33 English, 16 Italian) against 3,028 before the deletion. What I’ve had open while rebuilding

These are the documents this site is being written against, rather than a general reading list:

• WCAG 2.2: the accessibility target for every template here is AA.
• The Stanford Guidelines for Web Credibility: B.J. Fogg’s list is old and has aged better than most of what replaced it. “Make it easy to verify the accuracy of the information on your site” is the whole design brief.
• Hugo’s documentation, mostly the parts about output formats and build-time validation.

What I’m not doing

Not taking freelance work. Not publishing on a schedule. Not running the automation that broke this site, or any successor to it.
